Japanese automaker Suzuki has recently confirmed that it will be displaying the electric Burgman scooter and the Burgman Hydrogen at the Tata Motor Show. The company stated that the scooter showcased at the event will be a concept as they are still developing the technology.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has revealed the Suzuki e-Burgman electric scooter before its debut. Suzuki has shared a picture with a few details about the scooter. The Suzuki e-Burgman will debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in late October. The e-Burgman electric scooter is equipped with a 125-cc petrol engine. The manufacturer stated that this scooter will come with battery swapping technology.
Suzuki’s brand demonstration project was revealed in April 2023, and the company has stated that they will utilize the e-Burgman electric scooter as part of this project. For electric scooters, India is one of the rapidly growing markets, so many EV startups are trying hard to be a part of this market. At present, Suzuki has launched the Burgman Street EX and Burgman Street scooters in India. Although the Japanese auto company Suzuki has revealed nothing about the launch of this scooter in India, there are rumors that Suzuki Motorcycle India may launch the e-Burgman in India as well.
The Suzuki e-Burgman electric scooter comes with the same exact design as the ICE version of Burgman. The scooter’s no-emission character is indicated by the white paint, which contrasts with the blue highlights in different places. The scooter does not have any exhaust pipes as it is an EV.
Suzuki has also revealed a hydrogen powered Burgman scooter set to debut at the same event. The scooter gets a 70 MPa (10, 153 PSI) hydrogen fuel tank. To reach carbon neutrality, the company is conducting development and research on hydrogen engines. Most hydrogen-powered cars use fuel cell technology where hydrogen reacts with oxygen to generate electricity, which further powers the wheels with the help of an electric motor, but the Suzuki hydrogen-powered Burgman does not use this technology; instead, it continues to use an inner combustion engine. Instead of gasoline this engine runs on hydrogen. Even though a hydrogen-powered combustion engine is not a new concept, and several manufacturers are already investing in this technology, the Suzuki Burgman hydrogen scooter is one of the first hydrogen-powered scooters.
The automotive industry is going through a major transformation phase, and to attain a greener future by lowering carbon emissions, manufacturers are currently investigating many propulsion technologies.
