Next-generation Renault Duster design patent has been filed; Launch in pipeline

As per a media report, Renault has filed a design patent for the next-generation Duster in the country. This has further fuelled speculations of its launch. As of now, there is no such information about the launch of the mid-size SUV in the Indian market. However, if it is launched, we can expect it to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Kia Seltos.

Duster, which is sold under the Dacia badge in Europe is considered to be one of the most affordable SUVs in the old continent. It is also being speculated that a seven-seater version of Duster called the Grand Duster is in the works. This could further mark the entry of the French automaker into the seven-seater SUV segment. Whether it will be launched in India or not, it is still not known.

With its debut back in 2012, Renault Duster has really set the tone for Renault in the country. The mid-size SUV has literally helped the brand maintain a good reputation in the domestic market. Moving on, in 2014 Duster gained an AWD variant. Then in 2016, it received a mid-cycle refresh with an AMT transmission. Talking about the second-generation Duster, it has been on sale in the global market since 2017. Despite its popularity, the model was never launched in India. Instead Renault introduced a refreshed version of the old Duster in 2019.
