Maruti Baleno, WagonR, and Swift SUVs registered 51.5 percent of overall sales for the auto giant.

Maruti Suzuki India, one of India’s biggest automakers, has announced the monthly sales figures for February 2024. The automaker sold 197,471 units last month, marking a growth of 15 percent, while in February 2023, the brand only sold 172,321 vehicles.

Maruti’s domestic PV sales numbers witnessed a growth of 9 percent, with 1,60,271 units sold last month. The company dispatched 155,114 units during the same month last year. In February 2024, exports increased by a staggering 68 percent to 28,927 units in comparison to 17,207 units in the previous year. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) stated that the mini car segment’s sales, which comprise the S-Presso and Alto, declined to 14,782 units, while in the same month last year, the brand sold 21,875 units.

Sales of the company’s subcompact cars, incorporating Celerio, Baleno, Ignis, Tour S, Swift, Dzire, and WagonR, decreased by 10 percent to 71,627 units in comparison to 79,898 units in the same month last year. On the other hand, SUVs incorporating Ertiga, Brezza, XL6, and Grand Vitara registered sales of 61,234 units in February, surging 82 percent over 33,550 units in the same month previous year.

From April to February, Baleno, WagonR, and Swift SUVs became the most popular models for the brand. These SUVs registered 51.5 percent of overall sales for the auto giant. On the commercial vehicle side, sales of the Maruti Super Carry decreased by 6 percent to 3,126 units in February 2024. The Super Carry is Maruti's only Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV).

Currently, Maruti Suzuki is planning to roll out a new generation Swift in India. The new hatchback has already been unveiled in Japan. The new offering is likely to reach Indian shores in the coming years. The hatchback will come with an all-new 3-cylinder engine and some major cosmetic updates. In the international market, the new engine comes paired with a CVT AT transmission.
