Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 prices were recently increased for the Indian customers post Coronavirus lockdown. In another development, there is a waiting period up to 3 months for the Husqvarna and KTM range of motorcycles. KTM and Husqvarna motercycle are resuming production corresponding to the relaxations in the nationwide lockdown. From March 22nd, India was under nationwide restrictions forcing the manufacturing companies to suspend their production and now it’s again picking up pace. We have to wait and watch as to how the movement of migrants to their home would affect operations.
Customers who had earlier booked KTM and Husqvarna will now be facing a waiting period for the delivery of their beloved motorcycle. Same would be true for the customers who booked the motorcycles post the lockdown. According to the news published in the Autocar, if you are looking to buy a KTM or Husqvarna, be prepared for a waiting period of upto 3 months.
Duration of the waiting period would differ from model to model with the Duke and RC 125 delivery being the fastest as they are the smallest in the KTM lineup. As we move up in the motorcycle capacity, Duke 250 and all the 390 models would be looking at a delay of a minimum of 2 months. 390 Duke, RC 390 and 390 Adventure all would be seeing a waiting period of a minimum of 2 months. Customers are likely to face waiting time for the newly launched Husqvarnas range of motorcycles. For instance, the Cafe-racer Vitpilen 250 has a waiting period of 45 days while Scrambler-style Svartpilen 250 will have a further delay of 3 months.
Plenty of reasons can be attributed to the delay in the delivery of the KTM motorcycles. Delay in the production, as well as the availability of parts is the most important factor. With the supply chain disrupted by COVID-19, it would be a while before everything falls into place for the motorcycle manufacturers. KTM usually exports around 5,000 motorcycles a month but due to lockdown, exports haven’t materialized. Austrian motorcycle maker would be looking to clear the export backlogs slowly once the production comes to its full capacity. It is resuming its Austrian Plant with European market beginning to open again for business.
