Kia Sonet bookings have already crossed the 25,000 mark in the country

Kia Motors India has launched the Sonet subcompact SUV at a starting price of Rs 6.71 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, pan India) in the country. It has been offered in two trims: Tech Line and GT Line. The former can be availed in a total of five variants namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+ while the latter gets a fully-loaded GTX+ variant. Kia Sonet bookings have crossed 25,000 mark and the deliveries will start from today itself. The SUV will be locally developed at Kia's Anantapur facility while being exported to over 70 countries internationally.

The Sonet flaunts 'Heartbeat' LED DRLs with integrated indicators while debuting a plethora of best-in-class features. The SUV gets UVO Connect with Voice Assist alongwith 57 connected features and a 3 year subscription. Other salient features include Ventilated front seats, Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus & Bacteria protection, Electric sunroof, Sound mood lights, 4.2-inch color instrument cluster, Bose 7-speaker sound system and the largest in segment 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & Navigation. It also boasts of three drive modes namely Normal, Eco & Sport while the company has also equipped it with three traction modes in the form of Snow, Mud and Sand.

Mechanically, Kia Sonet comes with three BS6 compliant engines. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine which delivers a top power of 82bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 115Nm at 4200rpm while mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also a 1.0L 3-cylinder T-GDi engine which develops a maximum power of 118bhp at 6000rpm and highest torque of 172Nm between 1500-4000rpm. This engine can be availed with either an iMT (AMT) gearbox or a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. Coming to the diesel variants, they draw power from a 1.5L CRDi motor. This powertrain churns out power output and torque performance of 98bhp & 240Nm and 113bhp & 250Nm with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions, respectively.
