Kia India has launched the Carens MPV at an introductory price of Rs 8.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. It comes in a total of 19 variants which includes 5 trims, 3 engine and 3 transmission options. Kia Carens bookings began on January 14, 2022 at a token payment of Rs 25,000 and the company has registered 19,089 orders in just over 1 month. Being available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, the Carens is the fourth product from Kia in the Indian market and it will be locally manufactured at the Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh.


Kia Carens is offered in five trim levels namely Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. It comes in seven-seater configurations from Premium to Luxury trims, with the Luxury Plus trim available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations. The Robust 10 Hi-safety package, which includes 6 airbags, DBC, VSM, HAC, ESC and All-Wheel Disc Brakes to name a few, is standard on all five trim levels. Some of the notable features of the Carens include SkyLight Sunroof, Ventilated Front Seats, Cabin Surround 64 colour Ambient Mood Lighting, Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus and Bacteria Protection, 2nd Row Seat “One Touch Easy Electric Tumble”, BOSE Premium Sound System with 8 speakers and 10.25-inch HD Touchscreen Navigation with Next Generation Kia Connect (66 connected car features).

It can be availed in a total of eight color schemes namely Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, Glacier White Pearl and Clear White. Kia Carens is offered with three engine options: Smartstream 1.5L petrol, Smartstream 1.4L T-GDi petrol, and 1.5L CRDi VGT Diesel. All the aforementioned engines are borrowed from the Seltos. The transmission choices include 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT automatic and 6-speed torque converter automatic units. The suspension duties are helmed by McPherson struts at front while there will be coupled torsion beam axle setup at the rear. Kia Carens will be exported globally to several countries from India.
