The Japnese bikemaker, Kawasaki has introduced the 2020 model Z900 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 8.5 lacs to Rs 9 lacs. The naked sportbike was launched at the 2019 EICMA in Italy earlier this year.
Although the new motorcycle is not an all-new model but the bike bears some changes over the previous model. The updates and changes were need of the hour as competition has moved on to new technology. The new 2020 Kawasaki Z900 is pricier by Rs. 1 Lac than the previous model which was priced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.69 lacs. The price difference is quite steep.
The updates on the new bike include a slightly revised design which is apparent with the introduction of the new LED headlamp and also under fangs inspired from Kawasaki H2.
The tailpiece has been chopped slightly that exposes the treliss frame and the tank extensions get a slight tweak. The new model continues to sport its signature, Z-shaped LED tail-lamps. However the biggest updates the new bike gets is the introduction of electronic riding aids such as a 3-level Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and two power modes – Low and Full.
The Low power mode reduces the bike’s power output by 55% of the total available power of 125 bhp. The riders will find the Low power mode useful in slippery conditions, like on rain-soaked roads. Apart from that the new Z900 gets 4 riding modes that are Sport, Road, Rain and Rider.
The Rider mode allows the rider to set the system as per their preferences. With the help of the TFT screen, riders can pair their smartphones via the Bluetooth using the Kawasaki Rideology app. 2020 Z900 is powered by a 948cc, inline-four engine that is BSVI compliant but surprisingly there is no loss in power. The bike is tuned to produce 125hp at 9,500rpm and 98.6Nm at 7,700rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox as usual. Also, as before, the front and rear suspension units have been kept the same.
