About Tesla Model X

Tesla, a name that shook the world with its ground-breaking electric ca₹ Tesla Inc formerly Tesla Motors is an American electric automobile manufacturer that was founded in 2003.  The company was the result of the vision of American entrepreneurs like Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning who named the company after the Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla. The funding of the company was borrowed from various sources like Elon Musk who later became the CEO of the company.

In the year 2008, Tesla Motors launched its first electric car the Roadster. The car underwent rigorous testing which revealed that the car was able to travel 394 km on a single charge, a range that was never heard of before. The car’s electric motor was powered by lithium-ion cells, similar to the ones used in laptops which could be recharged by a standard electric outlet.

The tests concluded that the car’s efficiency was comparable to the equivalent of 57km per litre of fuel.

The car was made up of carbon fibre which did a great job in reducing the overall weight of the car. The car did not use an internal combustion engine, so the car had no tailpipe emissions.

The car was simply ahead of its time. The Roadster model was comparable to gas-powered cars in terms of performance. The Roadster car model could accelerate from 0 to 96km/hr in less than 4 seconds and it could touch a top speed of 200km/hr.

The company stopped the production of its Roadster model to focus on a new model called Model S sedan which was appreciated by the industry experts for its design and performance. What set the Model S apart from the Roadster model was the placement of the batteries. The Model S has its batteries placed under the floor, unlike the Roadster which had its batteries placed in the front. The design meant a low center of gravity which improved the car’s handling. Also, an extra space was created at the front which was an added bonus.

The model S came with three battery options namely Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance. The Long - range model gave a range of 600km upon singe charge which is higher than any other electric car at present.

The performance variant of the Model S is able to push the car from 0 to 96km/hr in under 4 seconds and a top speed of 209km/hr.

Also, the Tesla autopilot mode which is kind of a semiautonomous driving was made in the Model S in the year 2014.

To support the electric car model the company-built charging stations called supercharger across the United States and Europe. The charging stations were later called Tesla stations that has the capability of completely replacing the Model S battery pack.

Tesla entered the crossover car market in the year 2015 with its Model X which is an SUV(sport-utility vehicle).

The model X gave a maximum range of 475 km upon full charge. The car had the seating option for 7 people.

But because the need for a less expensive car was felt, the company introduced the Model 3 which is a 4-door sedan that gives a range of 354km on a single charge. The production of Model 3 began in the year 2017.

So, as of now, the company produces 3 car models which are Model S, Model X and Model 3.
