Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in the year 2005, and since then it has been the highest selling car in India, it was relaunched with minor design changes in the year 2014 which is currently being sold in the market. The car has elegant interiors that are covered in black and grey colour combination with silver insets on the doorknob and the dashboard. The seats and the headrests are covered with fabric upholstery, and door pads with bottle holders. The cabin of the car is spacious with ample of legroom in the front seats and the back seats. The car has been kept technologically updated as the dashboard gets a single colour tone, centre console features AC vents on the top followed by an audio system flanked by buttons and dials. The Temperature dials are placed beneath audio system. The window at the driver’s seat features buttons for power windows. There are various storage points that are provided within the arm’s distance of the occupants. The instrument panel features tachometer; reminder is provided for driver’s seat/light off/key-off and warning for door closure/low fuel. There is a multi-information display, digital clock and odometer among others.
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift’s external body has been left unchanged, but the car gets a slightly redesigned bumper. The L-shaped LED lights that are offered in the European models are not included in the Indian versions. The fog lamp assembly has been redesigned and now comes with a silver bezel around it. The new car comes in a new mysterious violet colour and other five standard colours. As the car does not feature alloy wheels, the maker has provided with redesigned wheel covers.
The car is powered by a 1.2 litre, K-Series VVT engine featuring four cylinders which is one of the main reasons for the car’s optimal performance. The engine bears the capacity to generate power upto 84.3 PS at 6000 rpm and torque upto 115 Nm at 4000 rpm. The diesel version of the car runs on a 1.3 litre, CRDi powertrain which is able to generate maximum power upto 75 PS at 4000 rpm and maximum torque upto 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. The car features a five-speed manual unit as the company has not manufactured the car in automatic or AMT transmissions.
Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in 12 variants – six diesel and six petrol. The petrol variants include LXi, VXI, VXI AMT, ZXI, ZXI AMT, ZXI Plus. The diesel variants include LDi, VDi, VDi AMT, ZDI, ZDI AMT, ZDI Plus.
