Maruti Suzuki is an alliance of two companies Maruti Udyog (India) and Suzuki (Japan). When Maruti started in the year 1983, the company was a fresher in the automobile industry and did not produce any cars or any other vehicle during this period. The company produced its first car Maruti 800 when it joined hands with the Japanese maker. Currently, the company has a vast portfolio that consists of MPV, SUVs, Compact cars, sedans etc. which includes the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the second car being sold through Maruti’s Nexa showroom network. The car made its world debut in India and was included in the sub 4-metre segment. The Baleno has to face a tough market competition against Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen’s Polo and Honda’s Jazz.
Having seen the overview, let us move towards the comprehensive Maruti Suzuki Baleno review:
The fascia of the Baleno has a ‘V’ shaped grille which is decorated with a strip of chrome. The car looks stunning at night with projector headlamps. It also features the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) that are neatly designed strips which run at the bottom of the headlight assembly. The chrome grille then continues and blend with the chrome strip in the headlamps. The air dam at the bottom is a basic and functional black unit and features round fog lamps. From the side, the vehicle gives a crouching impression. The window sills have chrome strip and make the car look elegant in sunlight.
The interiors of the car have breathtaking elegant looks that can be better described as straightforward and crisp. The car follows the elegant black theme, while pillars are the only thing that are coloured in beige. Even the dashboard is all black with silver inserts that act as a monotony breaker. The speedometer and info panel has a sporty blue theme, and the MID features a host of readouts and charts. There are identically sized dials for the speedometer and rev counter. At the bottom of the dial, there is an integrated dial for fuel and temperature.
The car features a 1.2-litre K-Series VVT engine that generates power upto 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. The VVT engine offers optimal performance with high mileage which is ideal for long distance rides, the vehicle offers mileage upto 21.4kmpl and comes with a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car runs on a 1.3-litre Multijet engine that generates power upto 75bhp and 190Nm of torque, offering maximum mileage upto 27.39kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in 12 variants – 8 petrol and 4 diesel. Petrol variants include Sigma 1.2, Delta 1.2, Zeta 1.2, Delta 1.2 AT, Alpha 1.2, Zeta 1.2 AT, Alpha 1.2 AT and RS 1.0. Diesel variants include Sigma 1.3, Delta 1.3, Zeta 1.3 and Alpha 1.3.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno review for the current model by top critics has been positive, which means that the vehicle has managed to please the experts in India, but the Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2018 has to be even better to sustain its reputation in the market.
