About Indian Roadmaster

Indian is an American motorcycle brand; the company was started in the year 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Originally the company was named as Hendee manufacturing company, and the motorcycle was sold under the same brand name until it was changed to Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928. It was one of the companies that survived the Great Depression of 1933.

Indian is one of the prime competitors of Harley Davidson as both the brand share the same interests – ‘Cruiser bikes’. Indian is also a well-known manufacturer of Cruiser bikes that feature powerful engines too, but there are some things that set the bikes apart. These are the superbikes manufactured by Indian.

  1. Indian Chief Dark Horse: The Indian Chief Dark Horse is another addition to the portfolio of the Indian motorcycles in India. The bike has a remarkable look that makes it different from all the other bikes. The fuel tank of the bike is unique, and the Warbonnet design on the fuel tank is only seen in the Indian Chief Dark Horse. The bike has the iconic Warbonnet front fender in a black frame. It also features some of the latest gadgets like keyless ignition, anti-lock braking system) and cruise control. The bike runs on an air-cooled 49-degree V-twin engine that generates torque upto 139Nm with a six-speed transmission.

  1. Indian Chief Vintage: As the name says the bike does feature a vintage look, the vehicle is a soft bagger type of motorcycle. It has stylish and elegant fenders with the ‘Indian’ traditional badge. The vehicle has an advanced keyless entry system that allows the rider to turn on the bike with the push of a button. The bike is covered in chrome all over its body starting from the headlamps. The Indian Chief Vintage features an 1811 cc Thunder Stroke™ 111 Petrol engine with a Wet, Multi-Plate clutch box and can generate power upto 74 PS and torque till 161 Nm @ 3000 rpm.

  1. Indian Springfield: Another iconic and elegant bike from the American maker, the Indian Springfield is like the balance between the Indian Chieftain and The Indian Vintage. Just like the Indian Vintage, Springfield is also a bagger bike with quick release windshields that make it ideal for long distance rides. Just like the other Indian motorcycles, the Springfield is loaded with gadgets such as remote locking hard bags and adjustable passenger floorboards, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic cruise control and dual driving lights. The bike runs on the Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine that generates a maximum torque of 137Nm at 2600rpm.

Indian bikes are not much renowned in India, but the bikes made by the company are surely much advanced than the other touring bikes across the globe. There many upcoming Indian superbikes that are yet to be launched or introduced in India.
