About Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V made its debut in India more than a decade ago. In the initial phase after launch, CR-V did well, but as soon as diesel SUVs started to come out, CR-V lost its place due to the stiff competition. Honda continued to sell the CR-V without introducing the diesel option. In the year 2013, Honda unveiled a fourth generation CR-V which too was just petrol with no diesel option. However, talks are surfacing around the Honda CR-V 2018 which might come with a diesel option. The Honda CR-V diesel variant is said to be in the homologation process.

Let’s learn in-detail about the Honda CR-V in a comprehensive Honda CR-V review:

Exterior:

CR-V is a premium SUV that seats five and offers loads of space. The design is getting rounder with each passing upgrade. The quirkiness in design can be seen in the new CR-V with two-tone front fascia coupled with a trapezoidal grille and three horizontal chrome slats. The projector headlamps with DRLS are curved and reach out to the fenders. The lower half of the car model gets a three-part air dam with fog-lamp mounts. The car model has a tall profile with a higher ground clearance. The roofline slopes towards the rear end. The windows of CR-V got chrome accents and blacked out B & C pillar. Honda CR-V is available in five colours – Carnelian Red Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic and White Orchid Pearl.

Interior:

The interiors in CR-V are quite simple with two-tone colours and leather upholstery. Standard interior features include electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, steering mounted audio controls and push-button start. As for infotainment system, the model gets a touchscreen infotainment display with the top spec car. Moving on to safety, the CR-V comes with six airbags along with ABS and EBD. Other features include a reverse camera and rear parking sensors.

Specifications:

Honda CR-V is offered in two engine options – 2.0-litre and the 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines. The 2.0-litre engine churns out a power of 154bhp and generates torque of 190Nm while the 2.4-litre engine gets a five-speed automatic transmission along with the on-demand four-wheel drive. Both the variants deliver fuel efficiency of up to 12 kmpl. In the global model, CR-V also gets a 1.6-litre four pot diesel engine which is available at 118bhp and 158bhp setups.

Variants:

Honda CRV is available in two variants – 2.0L 2WD AT and 2.4L 4WD AVN.

Price:

There are two variants which are being offered in the market, and the price difference is not much. Honda CR-V on road price is between INR 25 lakh to 27 lakh. The entry-level variant is priced at INR 25 lakh considering price after GST.

The Honda CR-V competes with the Skoda Yeti, Renault Koleos, and Hyundai Tucson as all of them are five seater SUVs. However, due to its price range, CR-V falls in the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Ford Endeavour category which is a full-size SUV category.
