Hero scooters Limited is the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers. It all started when Brijmohan Lall Munjal, founder of Hero Bicycle teamed up with Majestic Gears, a bicycle parts maker to make Mopeds. In 1978, the company started making Hero Majestic Mopeds under the name of Majestic Auto. Then in 1983, Hero Cycles collaborated with Honda Motor Company and gave birth to a new two-wheeler brand called Hero Honda Motors Limited. The first product which came out of this collaboration was the Hero CD 100. In 1994, the company launched Splendor. The year also marked the production milestone of 10,00,000 units. The joint venture between Hero Group and Honda ended in 2011 due to the differences in the two brands’ goals and issues in royalty payouts. These developments led to the emergence of Hero MotoCorp. Then in 2016, Hero inaugurated a state of the art R&D facility called Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Rajasthan that helped the company to come up with its own engine platform for its products. Since then there is no looking back.
Hero scooters has five manufacturing facilities based at Dharuhera, Gurgaon, Neemrana, Haridwar, and Halol under the Green Field stage. It has a sales and service network with over 6,000 dealerships and service points across India. Currently, Dr. Pawan Munjal is the Chairman, Managing Director, and CEO of Hero MotoCorp. The company has a total of 7 directors on the board of management: Pradeep Dinodia, Suman Kant Munjal, Paul Edgerley, M. Damodaran, Vikram Kasbekar, Jagmohan Singh Raju, and Tina Trikha.
