Hero MotoCorp is a prominent manufacturer of motorcycles in the Indian market, known for its commuter bikes the company almost dominates the sales of the Indian market single-handedly. Initially, the company was founded as a bicycle manufacturing company in the year 1956 in Ludhiana, Punjab. The company was formed under the brand name of ‘Hero Cycles’ and soon became a key supplier of bicycles in India. In 1984, the company joined hands with the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda Motors and ventured into two-wheeler production.
The coalition started a separate company named Hero Honda and soon began selling bikes all over India. Bikes made by the company became a sensation in the Indian market as these bikes were light in weight, affordable and saved a lot on maintenance. The company soon began producing and selling bikes in large number and sales amount reached upto millions in the unit. However, due to differences, the coalition between Hero and Honda ended in the year 2010 and Hero got the rights to reproduce one of the highest selling and iconic produce of the coalition the ‘Splendor’. During the coalition, Splendor was one of the highest selling bikes of the company. With Splendor in its portfolio, Hero MotoCorp instantly became a top seller in the market.
The Splendor was first launched in the year 1994, in those times Splendor was praised for its fuel efficiency and light weighted body. During the course of years, the bike has been launched many times with performance and cosmetic upgrades. The recent model of the bike was launched in the year 2017 under the brand name of Hero Super Splendor. Just like its name the bike comes as a superpower in the commuter segment with a 125 cc engine and looks a lot more stylish than its predecessors.
The bike is built on the same body type as its predecessors, but there are some components that differentiate the bike from others. At the front fascia of the bike gets a body coloured cowl and a black coloured visor. Its headlamp cluster gets halogen beam lamps for better visibility and clear lens indicator lights. The side profile gets a contoured fuel tank with graphics that are spread across the entire body.
The bike is powered by a 125cc engine that generates maximum power upto 9bhp at 7,000rpm and torque upto 10.35Nm at 4,000rpm. For better performance and fuel efficiency, the engine has been mated to a 4 gears transmission that generates a maximum speed of 95 kmph.
