Hero MotoCorp is an Indian company renowned for its bikes in the commuter segment. The company was started in the year 1956 as a bicycle manufacturing company and was one of the top sellers of bicycles in those times. Hero ventured in motorcycle production in the year 1984 in collaboration with the Japanese manufacturer Honda motors. The alliance established a separate company named Hero Honda and became one of the top-selling companies in the Indian market.
The coalition launched phenomenal bikes which featured unconventional design and fuel-efficient engines, due to which the company was able to dominate the Indian market for more than two decades. However, due to internal disputes, the coalition was ended in the year 2010 which led to the formation of Hero MotoCorp. After the end of the coalition, Hero MotoCorp got the rights to reuse the older Hero Honda Models which included the Hero Passion Pro.
Hero Passion Pro was first launched in the year 2001 and was the second largest selling motorcycle in the world. The first model was simple in appearance, whereas the bike launched in 2003 was much more appealing as it was covered with impressively designed graphics and modern accessories. The company is planning to re-launch the Hero Passion Pro in the year 2018 and is rumoured to have features better than its predecessors.
The company is planning to make the new Passion Pro better than the older model; the new model has a slightly bulky body with bigger body components like the fuel tank, headlamp unit and revised side panels. It is also available in new colour schemes and decals. The instrument cluster gets the same traditional styled part digital-analogue design that offers all the necessary data about the bike during a ride. It has a single seat with enough space for rider and pillion; it also features a body coloured grab rail.
The bike runs on the 110cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor which has the capacity to generate maximum power upto 9.4bhp at 7500rpm and maximum torque upto 9Nm at 5500rpm. For better performance and fuel efficiency, the engine has been mated to a four-speed gearbox. According to the company, the new Passion Pro will be more powerful than its predecessors.
The Hero Passion Pro price according to the ex-showroom valuation amounts upto INR 60,000. However, Hero Passion Pro on road price may differ from region to region due to taxes and charges levied at purchase.
The 110cc will face serious competition in the commuter segment from bikes like Honda CD 110 Dream, Yamaha Saluto RX and TVS Star City Plus.
