We help you to choose the perfect vehicle for you
The Bajaj Pulsar NS is another fine example of brand segmentation. The Pulsar NS 160 is an entry-level premium commuter motorcycle in the Bajaj line-up. The need for a budget commuter is at an all-time high and Bajaj one of the top manufacturers is heeding attention to the requirements. Initially, the NS series was pure sport based bikes; however, due to the lack of demand from the commuter segment, the Pune-based manufacturer had to introduce a change in the plan which saw most of the sporty character of the vehicle being turned into comfortable commuter one. Bajaj Pulsar NS is exciting as though it bears all the comfort of a commuter; aesthetically it is quite similar to the NS200 – its elder brother.
Having seen the overview, let us move towards the comprehensive Bajaj Pulsar NS review:
For people who are looking for a perfect blend of sporty nature and commuter comfort, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 is the perfect model for you. The model has been built on the same perimeter frame which is identical to the Pulsar NS200 thereby giving the bike a bulky look. To add to the commuter feel, the bike features skinnier tyres with a wheelbase of 1363mm. This makes the handling of the bike much more comfortable. Quick turns, comfortable and composed right is everything that the Bajaj Pulsar NS has to offer. The MRF tyres incorporated in the model perform well even in the wet conditions.
Exterior: The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 may come with a sporty seating triangle, but it does not sacrifice on being a good commuter. The seating is quite comfortable thanks to the rear-seat rider foot-pegs. A rider can rest the knees comfortably even if he is 6ft+. The seat is firm, and it offers the right support during acceleration over a short range. However, if you are looking for touring and long distance ride, you might be slightly disappointed as the upright posture slowly causes ache. The ride on the Pulsar NS is taken care of by the telescopic front forks which get thinner tubes as compared to that of NS200 and monoshock at the rear.
Specifications: Bajaj Pulsar NS features a 160cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which churns out 15.5bhp @8500rpm, and it generates a peak torque of 14.6Nm @6500rpm. The motor is quite impressive as it does not fail to shine when accelerated. Tractable engine thanks to oodles of torque in low and mid-range work wonder for the rider. Bajaj Pulsar NS manages to reach 30 kmph in fifth gear even with 100 kg ride on it. Its specifications are similar to that of a commuter vehicle as it manages to reach the 20-25 km/h in the third gear. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox which is specifically tailored to match the performance.
Price: Bajaj Pulsar NS on road price is between INR 80,000 to INR 85,000 considering price after GST. The prices may vary based on the region.
Competitors: Bajaj Pulsar LS price and specifications put the model in direct competition with other bikes such as Honda Hornet 160, Yamaha FZ-FI and Suzuki Gixxer.
