Initially unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes with the similar styling as that of the prototype. Bajaj has named the model after a Spanish word Dominar which means to excel or exceed in power. Similar to the younger siblings, the Dominar is a combination of cruiser and tourer wherein it provides adventure along with the comfort. Dominar is a beast; it is something that a lot of bike fanatics had been dreaming of. Dominar, unlike Discover and Pulsar, is a whole new moniker which now carries the expectation as the next flag bearer. Dominar by far is Bajaj’s most powerful and most expensive bike model. And given the price tag, it is no surprise that the model features various elements which is one of its kind and to be introduced the first time in any two-wheeler in India.
Having seen the Bajaj Dominar overview, let us move towards the Bajaj Dominar review:
Back at the 12th Auto Expo, the Bajaj Dominar was revealed as the CS400 concept back in 2014. Bajaj Dominar being a 400cc bike is among the most affordable bikes in the segment. Since the unveiling of its prototype a couple of years ago, the manufacturer has inculcated various changes in the model to make the model look more powerful. Dominar is shaking the two-wheeler market thanks to its much affordable price tag and its incredible specifications.
Exterior: The Bajaj Dominar is similar to what we saw in the prototype – the design and styling quite similar to the CS400 concept. The model has a sculpted body and an aggressive stance which gives the model a muscular look. LED headlamp in the front make the model look bold, and it is the only Bajaj model to get this feature. The muscular fuel tank, well-designed engine cowl and broad handlebars add to the brawny look of this model. Also, a unique addition is the all-digital LCD instrument cluster which houses all the necessary information.
Specifications: Bajaj Dominar is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine with Triple Spark technology, fuel injection, liquid cooling and 4-valve head. Astonishingly, it is the same unit which has been used in the KTM Duke 390. The only major tweak comes in the engine to help Dominar produce 34.5bhp of power at 8000rpm and generate 35Nm of torque at 8500rpm. As far as the acceleration is concerned, the model reaches from 0-100 in 8.32 seconds and can reach a top speed of up to 148 km/h. As for the transmission, the engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.
Price: Bajaj Dominar on road price is between INR 1.37 lakhs to INR 1.45 lakhs considering price after GST. The prices may vary based on the region.
Competitors: Bajaj Dominar price and specifications put the model in direct competition with other bikes such as Mahindra Mojo, Honda CBR 250R, Royal Enfield Classic 350 and other premium models.
