Yamaha to show R15 v3.0 and scooter.

The bike maker will showcase a range of two-wheelers at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. The main focus will be on its 125cc scooter, while also on display will be the company’s R15 v3.0. Another motorcycle that could debut will be the updated BS-IV YZF-R3.

125cc scooter

Yamaha hasn’t revealed much but the scooter could be based on the Nozza Grande that was seen testing here. The Nozza Grande, which is sold in Vietnam, is powered by a 125cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled motor that puts out 8.2hp and 9.7Nm. The Indian version however will be modified to keep costs down. At 790mm though, the seat position is a bit high for Indian riders, especially when compared to other Indian scooters. The Vietnam-spec bike is fitted with 12-inch cast alloy wheels at both ends, as well as a front disc brake.

YZF-R15 v3.0

The company had earlier unveiled R15 v3.0 in Indonesia, back in January 2017. However, a lot of parts may be different from the version sold there to keep costs low. For example, the MRF tyres and not the IRC ones that are on the Indonesian-spec bike. From spy pictures, you can see a different engine, which means we could get the new 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. Graphics along the side read 'VVA Variable Valve Actuation', which means we could see this tech here. Pricing is expected to be around ₹1.3 lakh (ex-showroom).

YZF-R3 (BS-IV model)

The YZF-R3 for the US market comes with three new colour schemes – Team Yamaha Blue, Raven and Vivid White. The 2018 R3 is identical to the R3, which was launched in 2015. The bike is powered by 321cc, parallel-twin, four-valve engine, which makes 41.9hp and 29.6Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Yamaha R3 is sold with either ABS and non-ABS versions in the US. The bike comes with a 110/70 R17 tyre in the front and a 140/70 R17 tyre in the rear, each mounted on 17-inch alloys. The new R3 could cost around ₹3.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
