The ID Buzz concept is an all-electric Microbus-inspired MPV that is touted to go on sale in international markets in 2022.
The concept debuted at the 2017 Detroit motor show in January. Volkswagen CEO, Dr Herbert Diess, said recently, “After the presentations at the global motor shows, we received a large number of letters and emails from customers who said, 'please build this car'. The Microbus has long been part of the California lifestyle. Now we're bringing it back by reinventing it as an electric vehicle.”
The MPV is set to feature Level-3 autonomous driving capabilities, - it can drive with human supervision.
The car features two electric motors - one motor in the nose section and the other at the rear axle, producing a combined output of 374hp.
The ID Buzz is said to have range of around 430km and features three rows of seats - the third row of seats can be converted into a bed.
The company is investing £7.5 billion (about ₹62,000 crore) to make more than 30 battery-powered models by 2025.
