Volvo Cars have officially listed the XC40 Recharge on its India website. It has been priced at Rs 75 lakhs (ex-showroom). However, the brand has not announced it officially yet. It has been leaked ahead of the official launch in the Indian market. Volvo showcased the XC40 Recharge almost a year ago in India. The bookings were also scheduled to begin in June 2021. However, due to a shortage of semiconductors, it was deferred to 2022. We can expect the electric car to be launched in the coming weeks.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) that underpins the regular SUV. The vehicle retains most of its design from the standard SUV. However, it does come with subtle updates. The design bits include LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, hands-free function for the tailgate, among many others. Feature-wise, the Indian-bound Volvo XC40 Recharge comes equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charging, powered driver seat with memory, and a powered passenger seat.
The safety kit of the India-spec XC40 comprises seven airbags, a blind-spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitor, lane keep assist, hill descent control, oncoming lane mitigation, auto parking, and road sign recognition.
Performance-wise, the XC40 Recharge comes equipped with two, 203bhp electric motors that further generate a combined 407 bhp power and 660 Nm peak torque. Furthermore, the EV can achieve 0-100 kmph in a mere 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 kmph. Besides that, the electric XC40 sports an all-wheel drive and comes with a 418 km claimed range on a single charge. Talking about the charging options, the vehicle takes around 8-10 hours to fully charge using an 11 kW AC charger. With a 150 kW DC charger, the car can be charged up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes.
