Volvo's flagship SUV gets a seven-seat plug-in hybrid variant.

Volvo has introduced the XC90 T8 Inscription which is the standard, top-of-the-line seven-seat XC90 with a hybrid engine. The car’s ‘Twin Engine’ setup features a 2.0-litre, turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine that together make 320hp and these are paired to an 87hp electric motor.

Total output stands at 407hp and 400Nm and power is channelled via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The engines power the front wheels and the electric motor powers the rear. The car offers an all-electric range of 40km. The rest is identical to the XC90 Inscription diesel, so you get features like a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, a 19-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system, air suspension, a head-up display, ventilated front seats and Nappa leather upholstery.

The car comes with a host of safety tech, including seven airbags, collision avoidance, radar-based adaptive cruise control, city braking system and more. This version of the XC90 costs Rs 96.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
