The all-new Volkswagen Virtus has entered series production at the Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune. Replacing the ageing Vento sedan in the brand's portfolio in India, it will be launched in May 2022. Volkswagen Virtus bookings have already begun across the 151 sales touch points and at the official company website. The sedan will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform with up to 95 percent localization levels to take on the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia in the Indian market.


Volkswagen Virtus is going to be the longest car in its segment, measuring 4561 mm while the best-in-segment boot capacity stands at 521 litres. The sedan will be offered in six exterior colors namely Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver, Curcuma Yellow, Candy White and Rising Blue. “The New Volkswagen Virtus is an unparalleled offering that brings in the newness and excitement in the premium midsize sedan segment. The overwhelming response received at the World Premiere has further driven our confidence. The New Virtus is built to perfection for aspirational Indian customers and with the start of production, we are eager to introduce the striking, exhilarating and German-engineered sedan at the earliest for the Indian market.” said Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India.



Some of the notable features in Volkswagen Virtus will include LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, KESSY (keyless entry and engine start), electric sunroof, smart-touch Climatronic AC, 8-speakers music system, wireless mobile charging, front ventilated leather seats and 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MyVolkswagen Connect App. The safety features on-board are 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-hold control, tire pressure deflation warning and reverse camera. Mechanically, it will be available with 1.0L TSI petrol and 1.5L TSI petrol engines with engine idle Start/Stop function. The gearbox options on offer will be 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic torque converter and 7-speed DSG units.
