The new Tharu SUV was spotted testing undisguised in China. Based on the Karoq SUV, the car will be introduced in the Chinese market with two turbocharged petrol engine options – a 116hp, 1.2-litre motor and a 150hp, 1.4-litre motor.
Both are mated to dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic gearboxes. The Tharu is longer and taller than the upcoming Karoq by 71mm and 27mm, respectively.
VW is expected to launch the Tharu in the third quarter of 2018 and it may take the car to various South American markets as well.
