Mahindra & Mahindra has started teasing the world with the next-gen Scorpio SUV on its various social media handles. The company has released a couple of videos which give a glimpse of the all-new SUV. The teasers provide an insight into the design and features of the upcoming model. The 2022 Mahindra Scoprio could be unveiled next month in the Indian market while more details will be revealed soon. Interestingly, the current-gen model will not be discontinued, instead it will be given a subtle update while also sold alongside the newer version.
The company has retained the basic design and silhouette of the Scoprio while prominent changes have been made to the front fascia. It now flaunts an upright nose with a tall grille which boasts of six vertically placed chrome slats. The new company logo is placed in the centre at the front. The bumper too seems to have been upgraded with three separate enclosures while there is also a faux aluminum skid plate. The SUV gets dual projector headlamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lamps and chrome inserts. The teaser videos don't reveal much of the rear profile but multiple spy images have indicated that it will come with vertical tail-lamps, faux aluminum skid plate and an exhaust outlet.
Mechanically, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will come with both petrol and diesel engines. It will borrow the powertrains from the XUV700 albeit with lower power output. The diesel engine will be offered with multiple power outputs. The transmission choices are expected to be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit for the entire variant line-up, barring the base variant. Sources close to the development have revealed that a 4x4 drive system will also be there with the range-topping variants. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio price is expected to start from Rs 14 Lakhs and go as high as Rs 20 Lakhs (Prices are Ex. Showroom, India) for the top-end variant.
