US-based startup Fisker is to produce 100 limited edition electric SUV cars for the Indian market and expects to begin deliveries in the fourth quarter this time. Earlier, the company quoted it ‘it will deal with its Ocean electric SUVs in India by July 2023, with the original product'. Now it expects to complete final checks by the end of September for the SUV, dubbed Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan, with its pricing aligned with European specifications.

Fisker Ocean Extreme is priced at 69,950 euros( USD 78,588.83), banning levies, in Germany. That would equate to around INR64.5 lakh.

Only 1% of the 3 million cars sold in India each year are electric vehicles (EVs), which the government wants to increase to 30% by 2030. Several incentives, including tax breaks for consumers, have been introduced to encourage this.

In India and across all regions outside China, the US, and Europe, EV deals are anticipated to represent 2- 3 of auto deals in 2023, a reasonably small yet growing share, as reported by International Energy Agency.

Fisker also looks forward to producing its coming EV, the lower, five-seater PEAR in India with Foxconn.
