Toyota updates two best selling models Innova Crysta and Fortuner in India.

Japanese automaker Toyota has updated their two best selling models in India -- Innova Crysta and Fortuner. The new updated 2019 models of the two vehicles see no changes in the engine department or the aesthetics but new features have been added to the two bestsellers from the Japanese maker’s stable. The updated 2019 model of Innova Crysta will cost the customers Rs 14.93 lakhs for the base model and Rs 22.43 lakhs for the top end model, ex-showroom. The Toyota Fortuner will come in at Rs 27.83 lakhs for the base model and the top end model will come at Rs 33.6 lakhs, ex-showroom.

As already mentioned, Toyota Innova Crysta and Toyota Fortuner pull in hefty numbers for the Japanese automaker, with the MPV Innova Crysta bringing in sales figures of 7,000 units per month on an average and the full-size SUV Fortuner raking in nearly 2000 units monthly on an average. The Innova and Fortuner are also bestsellers in their respective segments.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s deputy managing director N. Raja spoke on the launch of updated models of Innova Crysta and Fortuner and added the following,

In line with the feedback from customers, we are happy to incorporate our customer preferences in select grades of the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner in terms of interiors and comfort. With changing lifestyles people are spending more family time on road trips during weekends and thus car interiors and comfort features are emerging to be important parameters among car buyers. We thank our customers for their unrelenting support and trust that these improvements will further enhance and delight our esteemed customers.”

Talking of the changes on the updated model of Toyota Innova Crysta, there is now an option of Ivory leather upholstery. The seats also are now perforated leather type and there is “Crysta” branding on the seats. Apart from the upholstery, the new Innova Crysta also comes with a USB fast charger port and heat rejection glass.

Coming to the changes on the best-selling Toyota Fortuner, there is an optional Chamois interior, perforated seats and heat rejection glass here as well. The updates on the SUV and MPV both have been restricted to specific variants while the diesel versions of MPV Innova Crysta gets the upholstery changes, the heat rejection glass and USB fast charger port is present only in the Touring Sport trim. Meanwhile only the 4X2 AT, 4X4 MT and 4X4 AT variants of the diesel versions of Fortuner SUV will feature the changes.

As already mentioned there have been no changes in the mechanical or aesthetic department on the MPV or the SUV. The Innova Crysta still comes with the option of a 2.4L diesel engine (143 Bhp and 343 Nm) and a 2.8L diesel engine (171 Bhp and 360 Nm). The petrol version of Innova Crysta is offered with a 2.7L engine rated to deliver 163 Bhp and 245 Nm. Meanwhile the Toyota Fortuner still comes with the same 2.8L turbocharged diesel engine and 2.7L petrol engine that are also found on Innova Crysta.
