The Indian market is going to witness new arrivals cutting across segments in 2021. One of the much-awaited launches is that of the upcoming Tata HBX. The micro-SUV has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads with an indication of its launch in the second quarter of this year. The major insight from the latest spied images is that the HBX will come equipped with both manual and automatic transmission options. The upcoming model will sit below Nexon in Tata Motor’s SUV line-up in the country. The manufacturer has said that the upcoming vehicle will be similar to the concept model showcased during Delhi Auto Expo 2020. The production-ready model is all set to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra XUV100 and the upcoming Citroen CC21 in the domestic market. Its price is expected to start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom), India to give Tata Motors a headway into the lucrative sub-4 metre SUV segment.
We have more information about Tata HBX's interior thanks to the spied shots released by our friends at IAB. First, let us talk about design and styling. The HBX will follow Tata’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy. The front profile is muscular in appearance, it boasts of a tri-arrow design mesh grille, split LED DRL’s and faux skid plate. Towards the rear, the buyer can look forward to tri-arrow shaped LED tail lights. The latest spied images indicate the model in the discussion is a top-end variant. The gear levels indicate the presence of both manual and automatic transmission units. Other notable features visible in the cabin are the flat-bottom steering wheel, floating touchscreen infotainment system and semi-digital instrument cluster. The cabin will feature an all-black theme with the seats coming in contrasting white stitching thus giving it a premium appearance overall. The dashboard’s design and styling are unclear due to a heavy camouflage over it. We can expect the homegrown manufacturer to offer Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, connected car technology IRA, automatic climate control among many other features.
Tata HBX is expected to house a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol motor under the hood. The same engine also powers the premium hatchback Tata Altroz. The engine will be expected to produce 85 bhp of maximum power output and 113 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional automatic unit.
