The much-awaited 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is arriving in the Indian market tomorrow, January 7. The company had launched the Compass way back in 2017 and it was due for an update considering the rivals have moved way ahead. The facelifted version's global debut happened in November 2020 and finally, it is making its way to the domestic market. The American automaker has lined-up a total of 4 SUVs for the Indian buyers with Compass facelift being the first one to arrive.

Post the new Compass, India will see the launch of Jeep Grand Cherokee, all-new 7-seater SUV and sub-4 metre compact SUV. The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift will rival the likes of Skoda Karoq and Hyundai Tucson facelift in the country. Expect competitive pricing in the bracket of Rs 15 lakh - Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

To drive home sales, there is a huge chance of the automaker launching the new Compass facelift at an immensely aggressive introductory price for a short duration as we saw with Nissan Magnite.

Apart from the existing colour options, there is a good chance of 2021 Compass to arrive in a dark green scheme as evident by the released teasers. Talking about the design, it is far more aggressive than the outgoing model. The major changes are the chrome-finished seven-slat honeycomb mesh grille surrounded by sleek new LED headlamps and DRLs. The Indian buyers also can look forward to revamped bumper, modified faux skid plate, a new set of fog lamps and new rear tail lights among others.

The new Jeep Compass will ride on a new set of 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Moving to the inside, the cabin gets a makeover with an all-leather upholstery. Further, the all-black colour scheme replaces the dual-tone in the cabin. The manufacturer has added a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. It supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice control support due to the new UConnect 5 software.

Other key features include ventilated front seats, new 3-spoke steering wheel, auto AC, fully-digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging facility and 360-degree parking camera among many others.

There is no change in the powertrains unlike the model on sale in the international markets. 2021 Jeep Compass continues to be powered by 1.4-litre Multiair petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The former belt out 163 bhp of maximum power output and 250Nm of peak torque performance while the latter will churn out 170 bhp of power output and 350Nm of highest torque.

The petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearboxes while the diesel engine comes with 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmissions.
