  • Triumph Tiger Sport 660 India launch might happen in early 2022

Triumph Motorcycle has released a teaser video and testing shots of its upcoming Tiger Sport 660 ahead of the global launch. Although the images reveal the bike wearing camouflage, we do get a fair idea of what it looks like.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660: Design

Cosmetically, the Tiger Sport 660 is seen flaunting sleek twin LED headlamps upfront. In addition, it is also seen with a big fuel tank, a large windscreen, and substantial radiator shrouds. Besides these, the 660cc adventure tourer also gets a big single-piece seat,  a tall & wide handlebar, and centrally-mounted footpegs. These further offer a comfortable riding position.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660: Engine, Underpinnings, & Chassis

Performance-wise, the upcoming Tiger Sport 660 will carry forward the 660cc three-cylinder engine that does duty on its roadster sibling, Trident 660. The engine is tuned to produce a top power of 80 bhp at 10250rpm and a peak torque of 64 Nm at 6250rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 might get the same suspension setup as seen on Trident 660. However, we can expect the new bike to have more suspension travel than the Trident. Moving on, the 660cc adventure-tourer will get the same 17-inch rims as found on Trident 660. Also, it will come shod with Michelin’s Road 5 tyres. The bike will sit on the same tubular steel frame. But it might get a new rear subframe and the swingarm.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660: Price and Rivals

Talking about the price, the new Tiger Sport 660 is likely to fall in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh - Rs 8.3 lakh (ex-showroom). Going by this price range, the new bike will rival the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650. Triumph Motorcycle has never sold motorcycles from its Tiger Sport range in India up till now. The Tiger Sport 660 is going to be the first model from the aforementioned range in the country. The global unveiling of the bike might happen sometime in the coming weeks. As for the India launch, we can expect it to take place in early 2022.
