Triumph Motorcycle India recently released a teaser of the new Tiger 900 on its official Instagram page. The motorcycle is expected to launch in India by the end of May 2020. The company had decided to launch the Tiger 900 range in April 2020. But due to the COVID’19 lockdown, it got postponed. However, some dealers have already started accepting bookings for the same. The Tiger 900 is a completely new motorcycle that replaces the highly popular Tiger 800. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 12 lakhs - Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the likes of KTM 790 Adventure and BMW F 850 GS.
The all-new Triumph Tiger 900 will be offered in three variants namely GT Pro, Rally Pro, and Rally. They will be brought to India via a CDK route. While the Rally trims are off-road oriented. The GT version is for touring purposes.
In terms of design, the Tiger 900 gets a less bulky stance than the outgoing model. It features a sharp front profile with new LED headlights and DRLs. The top-spec variant ‘Pro’ comes equipped with a host of features. These include LED fog lamps, heated rider and pillion seats, the My Triumph connectivity system, a quickshifter, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and additional riding modes. While the Tiger 900 Rally trim gets a decent equipment list. It gets the IMU-based cornering ABS and traction control as standard. It shares the same 7.0-inch TFT instrument screen, adjustable suspension, and tubeless wire-spoked wheels as the Rally Pro.
As for the suspension system, Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro trim gets a fully adjustable Marzocchi suspension, with the rear mono-shock featuring electronic damping and preload adjustment. While the Tiger 900 Rally trims get fully adjustable Showa suspension with longer travel at either end. In terms of brakes, the motorcycle gets 320 mm discs and new Brembo Stylema calipers.
Under the frame, it is powered by an 888cc, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine that produces 93.9 bhp power @ 8750 rpm and 87 Nm torque @ 7250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
