Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is launching tomorrow which is the 9th of February 2021, in India. The iconic British brand’s entry-level adventure bike made its global debut in November and is coming quick to the Indian market. This is a significant statement showcasing Triumph’s ambitious plans for the highly lucrative adventure bike segment in India. The new motorcycle follows the recent launch of the 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS in the country. Post-launch, Tiger 850 Sport will become the most affordable bike in Triumph India's product portfolio. Overall, the Tiger 850 Sport’s design and styling will remind the Indian buyer of the Tiger 900. 




Triumph Tiger 850 Sport does not have any direct competitors but will face competition from KTM 890 Adventure when it is launched in the country. Pricing wise, the motorcycle retails at GBP 9,300 (about Rs 9.28 lakh) in the UK market. Once it arrives here, one can expect the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport to retail in the region of Rs 11.50 lakhs - Rs 12 lakhs. All prices mentioned here will be ex-showroom. 

Overall, the chassis is the same as seen on the Tiger 900. Triumph Tiger 850 will retail in dual tone colour options namely Graphite/Diablo Red and Graphite/Caspian Blue. Upping the premium look will be the presence of 850 stickers on the fuel tank. Also, the bike will flaunt LED lighting with daytime running light (DRL). It sits on a lightweight modular frame with a bolt-on aluminum rear sub-frame. The electronic package here will consist of a 5-inch TFT display, two riding modes namely road and rain, switchable traction control system, among others. 


The upcoming Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will be powered by an 888cc, triple-cylinder engine having a power output of 84 bhp @8500 rpm and a peak torque of 82 Nm @6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox as it offers assist and slipper clutch as standard fitment. Braking duties will be taken care of by Brembo Stylema brakes borrowed from the Tiger 900. As a result, the braking system here will consist of 320 mm discs up front and a 255 mm disc towards the rear. For improved riding experience there is dual channel ABS. While its suspension duties are handled by a 45 mm Marzocchi USD fork in the front and a gas-charged monoshock with manual preload adjustment at the rear. Also, the bike will ride on a set of 19-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels in front and the rear.
