Toyota launched its second product from the joint venture with Maruti Suzuki in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its entry-level SUV, the Urban Cruiser, today at an introductory price of Rs 8.40 Lakhs (ex-showroom). This is the second product from Toyota which is from the joint venture with Maruti Suzuki. A rebadged version of Maruti Vitara Brezza, the subcompact SUV will target the millennials. The bookings for the SUV has already commenced while the deliveries are slated to begin from mid-October. The Urban Cruiser is offered in three variants namely mid-grade, high-grade, and premium-grade.

In terms of design, Toyota has given subtle tweaks to the Urban Cruiser with an aim to differentiate it from the Vitara Brezza. The front fascia of the subcompact SUV gets an iconic and dynamic bold grille coupled with a body colored bumper. In addition, it also gets dual-chamber LED projector headlamps with dual-function LED DRLs and turn indicators. Toyota Urban Cruiser also features aggressive-looking LED fog lamps. The rear end boasts of LED tail-lamps. Riding on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, the SUV gets a faux skid plate and glossy black ORVMs.

The Urban Cruiser gets an indulgent and feature-loaded interior. The wide, spacious cabin boasts of dual-tone interiors. The SUV features Multi-color combi meter light, Smart play cast touchscreen audio compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and smartphone-based navigation. Other highlighted features include rain-sensing wipers, engine push start/stop button, climate control with an auto AC, cruise control and electrochromic rearview mirror. 

Under the bonnet, the Urban Cruiser is powered by a K-series, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid engine. The engine will deliver 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. This same engine powers Maruti Vitara Brezza. In automatic variants, lithium-ion batteries provide superior fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the SUV offers an ARAI certified mileage of 18.76 kmpl for both manual and automatic variants.

The subcompact SUV will be offered in dual-tone and monotone colors. There will be over 360 service touchpoints. Through this wide network, the company ensures to stay connected with the customers across the globe.
