Toyota India, at its Bidadi facility in Karnataka, held the 2021 edition of India Skills Competition in mechatronics and prototype modeling skills. It was hosted by National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). The mechatronics segment was dominated by Toyota's Mr. Akhilesh Babu and Mr. Karthik Gowda while Mr. Likith Kumar, representing Toyota, emerged as the winner in prototype modeling skills. India Skills 2021 received over 2.50 Lakh registrations.


These winners will be undergoing rigorous training at Toyota including in other specialized centers, and the best performer will represent India and put their skill to test in the World Skills Competition 2022, which will be held in Shanghai, China. Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, Chief Operating Officer, NSDC said, " 2021 India Skills Competition aims to create a pool of talented and skilled workforce, who will fuel the economic growth of the country in the future. The competition offers a national platform to the youth and exposure to global training standards.  It is a step towards discovering the power of skills and making vocational training aspirational for the youth.”

Toyota trainers have conducted boot camp training to further enhance their skill sets. The India Skills 2021 began with district and state-level competitions in August-September 2021. India Skills 2021 Nationals brought together more than 500 participants from 26 states/union territories, covering 54 skills including cyber security, auto body repair, cloud computing, water technology, health and social care, welding, among others. This year, 7 new-age skills were introduced to keep up with the emerging technologies—robot systems integration, additive manufacturing, digital construction, industry 4.0, renewable energy, mobile applications development, and industrial design technology.
