The Yaris Cross is targeted at emerging markets and will go on sale soon. This car is essentially a rugged version of the Yaris hatchback and gets typical muscular crossover-like styling changes on the outside.
It will come fitted with roof rails, black cladding on the side and wheel-arch mouldings and a brush metal skid plate below the front and rear bumpers. The same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder petrol motor that produces 107hp and 140Nm will continue to power this version as well. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
The Yaris sedan coming to India will take on the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz when it goes on sale here in India. For now, there’s no plan of the hatchback version coming to India.
