Toyota India has launched the Hiace MPV at a starting price of Rs 55 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. The company has introduced the previous generation model of the MPV in the Indian market which was phased out of various global markets in 2019 as it was on sale from the last 15 years since 2004. Toyota Hiace has been showcased several times in the past but it has finally made its way to India today. Being imported as a CBU, initially 50 units of the Hiace MPV have been allocated for our market.

Toyota Hiace will be available in a fully-loaded single variant GL in two color schemes: White and Silver. It will have a seating capacity of 14 people, which can be further segmented into driver, co-driver and 12 occupants. The last row of seats can be folded down for extra boot space. The cabin is designed wisely to offer multiple storage spaces. Some of the features on the MPV include AC vents for each row, power steering, power windows, rear defogger, semi-reclining seats, 2-DIN audio system with CD, USB and AUX, dash-mounted gear selector and power-sliding rear doors. The standard safety features onboard Toyota Hiace are dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

Mechanically, Toyota Hiace is powered by a 2.8L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which develops a top power of 151bhp and peak torque of 300Nm. It is the same engine that does duties on the Fortuner and earlier used to power Innova. However, this engine returns a higher power output of 204bhp and peak torque of 420Nm. The torque gets even higher at 500Nm with the automatic transmission. The transmission option available with the Hiace is a 6-speed automatic unit. Toyota had introduced the sixth-gen Hiace in many international markets in 2019 while discontinuing the fifth-gen model which has been launched in India. Toyota Hiace will have no direct rival in India.
