Yamaha YZF R1

Yamaha Motor Company Limited is a famous name in the world of motorcycles with its portfolio comprising of motorcycles, scooters, 4-wheel ATVs and go-kart engines. Yamaha began production in 1955, the first motorcycle to be manufactured was the YA-1. The company celebrated its 65th Anniversary on 1st July 2020. The Japanese two-wheeler company is also one of the most successful motorcycle racing teams in history. Yamaha has won 39 world championships which include 6 MotoGP wins and 9 in the 500cc two-stroke class, and 1 in the World Superbike category. Yamaha entered India for the first time in 1983 with a joint venture. The Indian arm became 100 percent of Yamaha Motor Company Limited in 2001. Yamaha RX-100 

One of the most famous motorcycles to emerge from the Yamaha stable in 1985. The bike was distributed in India by Escorts and was in production till the year 1996. RX 100 was powered by a 98cc two-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder, petrol engine. The bike used to generate 11 bhp of maximum power @ 8500 RPM and 10.39 Nm of peak torque @ 6500 RPM. The charm of RX-100 has not diminished a wee bit considering there is still a huge demand for a used motorcycle in the Indian market.

Yamaha RD 350


Escorts assembled a licensed version of RD 350B in India from 1983-1990 under the brand name Rajdoot 350.  RD 350 did not achieve much success primarily due to factors like high cost and average inefficiency. Yamaha/Rajdoot did become a household name due to the launch of the RD 350 bike. Two models of Rajdoot 350 were launched in India - High Torque and Low Torque. The High Torque model churned out 305 bhp of power while the low torque variant delivered 27 bhp power. The International 350 had a front disc brake while the Indian specific RD 350 only had drum brake.

YZF-R15 V1


YZF-R15 V1 was powered by a 149.8cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine with four valves and a single overhead camshaft. A single-cylinder superbike, it arrived in the Indian market in the year 2008, a full 3 years after its international debut. The engine churned out 16.8 bhp of maximum power and 15 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox was a 6-speed transmission. Currently discontinued in India, the bike was priced at Rs 97,000 (ex-showroom), India.

YZF-R1


YZF-R1's engine technology comes from the M1 MotoGP bike. The YFZR1 was powered by a 998cc liquid-cooled petrol engine churning out 179.6 bhp of maximum power with 115.5 Nm of peak torque. The transmission duty was carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The bike is currently no more on sale in India, the YZF-R1 was priced at Rs 18,65,200 (ex-showroom), India.  The front had twin disc brakes while the rear was equipped with a single disc.

Yamaha FZ16


The Yamaha FZ16 was a standard motorcycle produced by Yamaha since 2008. The FZ16 was inspired from the larger FZ1 with a low engine performance capacity. It was powered by an air-cooled 153cc, 4-stroke petrol engine. Currently unavailable in the country, the bike used to produce a maximum power output of 13.8 bhp @ 7500 rpm with 13.6 Nm torque @ 6000 rpm. The transmission present here was a 5-speed manual gearbox. Yamaha FZ 16 was priced at Rs. 70,300 (ex-showroom), Delhi.
