Tata Motors is working on an electric version of the Tiago, and the UK-based Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, announced the date for the reveal of the Tiago EV.
News of Tata Motors working on battery electric vehicles has been floating around for some time now with TMETC leading the charge in developmental work. The car is expected to be heavily inspired by the Bolt BEV prototype and the electric version of the Bolt. The Tiago’s relatively low-cost platform will help offset costs of the battery and related components, enabling Tata to price it competitively.
Besides electric versions of the Nano are currently being tested near Coimbatore in collaboration with Ola. The company is also testing a fully electric bus as well.
