The Pune based carmaker, Tata Motors has launched the performance version of Tiago and Tigor called the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP. The JTP versions were first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and after eight months the manufacturer has launched these vehicles. The JTP versions have been developed by Coimbatore based, Jayem Automotive. JTP stands for Jayem Tata Performance. These cars get many distinctive upgrades cosmetically and mechanically.

The roof, ORVM covers and alloy wheels on these models get black treatment. There are JTP badges on the grille, on the rear boot lid and on both front quarter panels. The hood of the car gets a vent for engine cooling. Both JTP twins get double barrel projector headlight from the Tigor facelift.

The interior of the JTP siblings is also black with some red accents. It gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, red double stitching on the seat covers and gear lever gaiter. The foot pedals are made from aluminium and 5-inch touchscreen infotainment with Harman audio system with 8 speakers.

Both the JTP cars are powered by the same engine from Nexon petrol variant but it has been tuned to produce more power. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit churns out 114 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque and is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. There are two driving modes – City and Sport.

The ground clearance of Tiago and Tigor has been lowered to 161 mm. The suspension and steering have also been tweaked for better handling. The cars sit on 15-inch machined alloy wheels and have a contact patch of 185 mm. Both the cars come with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The ABS, corner stability control and dual front airbags are standard on these performance models.
