Tata Motors achieves a significant milestone in the electric vehicle segment by rolling out the 1000th Nexon EV

Tata Motors has successfully achieved a new production milestone in the electric vehicle domain. The company recently rolled out the 1000th unit of NexonEV from its plant in Pune. This particular milestone has been achieved in just 6 months from the launch of the vehicle. The rapid growth totally depends on the interest and demand of the electric SUV. Currently, Tata Nexon EV holds a majority of 62 percent market share in the segment. The Indian automaker launched the Nexon EV in March this year. The electric SUV is available in three variants. It is priced in the range of Rs 14 lakhs - Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Speaking on the occasion, Shailesh Chandra, President – Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd said, “Acceptance of EVs is accelerating fast, and we are seeing growing interest in it from all parts of the country. The rollout of the 1000th Nexon EV in a short time span, despite the challenges of Covid-19, reflects the rising interest of personal segment buyers in EVs. Tata Motors will continue to innovate and develop comprehensive sustainable mobility solutions to meet global standards. EVs are the future and as the industry leader, we are committed to making them desirable and a mainstream choice for the customers".

Under the skin, Tata Nexon EV draws its power from a 95 kW electric motor paired with a 30.2 kWh lithium battery pack. This powertrain generates a maximum power output of 128 bhp with 245 Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, the electric SUV sprints to a top speed of 122 kmph and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 9.9 seconds.

Tata Motors has also introduced a holistic e-mobility ecosystem called ‘Tata uniEVerse’ with an aim to accelerate the adoption of EVs in India. Through this ecosystem, consumers will have access to a suite of e-mobility offerings. These include charging solutions, innovative retail experiences, and easy financing options.
