Tata Harrier is one of the popular SUVs in the Indian market and it comes in an astounding 36 variants. The muscular design and modern interiors are making Tata Harrier an attractive choice in India's SUV segment. In a new development, leaked patent documents indicate that the Indian automaker is planning a new edition called Harrier Camo Edition. Tata has trademarked the Camo and Dark Editions for other models like Tigor, Tiago, Altroz, Nexon and the upcoming Gravitas SUV too. While we are waiting for further information on Tata Harrier Camo Edition, our friends at Rushlane have done a digital rendering of it. The designers imagine the 5-seater SUV’s Camo Edition as an off-roader with the army’s olive green colour scheme.

Tata Harrier Camo Edition will likely be filling the gap left by the discontinuation of Tata Safari in the Indian market. Going back to the digital rendering, the SUV's front end will sport a black cladding on the bumper, LED footlights and a black bull bar. Bullbars are currently banned in India so it would be difficult to see the bull bars actually making it to the SUV. The rugged look is enhanced by the addition of a black roof, scuff plate, winch and a roof rack with headlights. The designers also added modified off-road tyres and snorkel to give an off-roading character to the SUV.

Tata Harrier off-roading capacity will be boosted if the automaker adds the all-wheel-drive system. This shouldn’t be a hassle from a technical standpoint as the Harrier’s front wheel drive Omega architecture is derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The real point is whether Tata Motors adds the AWD system to give an off-roading ability to this edition in order to enter the popular premium SUV segment.

Tata Motors launched the BS6 Harrier to comply with the new stringent vehicular pollution norms. The Kryotec 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine powers the SUV. The engine delivers 168 bhp of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by 6-speed automatic and manual units. Tata Harrier base variant is retailed at Rs 13.84 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, India). Expectations are high for Tata Harrier petrol arriving in the Indian market by the year-end. It will be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged direct-injection engine. The petrol engine powered SUV will deliver power output around 150 bhp and torque performance close to 250 Nm. Like the diesel unit, the transmission units would be six-speed manual and automatic.
