Tata Motors Begins Rolling Out Electric Tigor from Sanand Facility

Tata begins rolling out e-Tigor.

The first batch of electric Tigor sedans have rolled out of the Tata Motors plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The units are part of its order for the government-run Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL).

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons and Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Group rolled the cars out in presence of Tata Motors head, Guenter Butschek. The company has collaborated with electric tech specialist Electra EV to build the electric drive systems for the Tigor EV. For now, the Tigor EV is currently supplied to EESL only and there’s no news on when the company plans to launch this car for the general public.

Tata Motors will produce 250 Tigor EVs under the Phase I of the tender and is currently awaiting an LoA (Letter of Appointment) to supply 100 more electric cars. Commenting on the rollout, Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors said, “It is indeed a momentous occasion for us as we have shown an exemplary teamwork spirit to overcome all challenges in delivering this project. I also recognize the invaluable contribution made by Electra EV, as part of this team. With the Tigor EV, we have begun our journey in boosting e-mobility and in offering a full range of electric vehicles to the Indian customers.”
