Ahead of the Diwali festival, Tata Altroz turbo petrol appeared briefly on the company's official website before being taken down

Festive season and especially Diwali is the period when the Indian automobile market brightens up with new launches. Tata Motors is reportedly bringing the Altroz turbo petrol variant before Diwali festival in India. Adding fire to the speculation is the brief appearance of Tata Altroz turbo petrol on the official website of Tata Motors before it was taken down. This was noticed by our friends at Team-BHP. The hatchback's turbo petrol variant has been spotted testing multiple times over the last several months. Tata Altroz Turbo petrol rivals in the Indian market will be Volkswagen Polo TSI and the upcoming new-gen Hyundai i20. It would be retailed at a premium price as compared to the standard version. The Indian manufacturer could offer new paint schemes with Altroz turbo petrol to woo customers in the festive period.

Presently, not much is known about the interior and exterior of the turbo variant but do expect cosmetic changes. The powerful variant will be quite similar to the standard version which is on sale currently, except for the ‘itubro' badging at the rear profile. The badge will be placed near the taillights giving it a distinctive appearance. In the earlier spy shots, we came across, the ‘itubro' badging was placed way lower down the boot lid. The images on the official website indicate a production-ready Tata Altroz turbo petrol. In the cabin, expect most of the standard features like a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, audio controls mounted on flat-bottom steering wheel, LED DRLs and semi-digital instrument cluster among others. The upcoming Altroz turbo will ride on the same set of alloy wheels as the standard model on sale in the country.

Engine details have already been leaked and the hatch will house a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit under the hood. The Altroz turbo petrol will deliver power output around 108bhp at 5500rpm and 140Nm of peak torque at 1500-5500rpm. The transmission duties would be handled by a 5-speed manual unit with a huge possibility of the dual-clutch automatic unit.
