News Highlights

  • Tata Motors might introduce the Altroz CNG next year
  • The CNG version of Altroz will be Rs 40,000-50,000 premium over the regular IC Altroz
  • Tata Motors is also working on the CNG versions of Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor

Since the petrol and diesel prices are rising with time, most of the automakers selling the vehicles in the Rs 10 lakh bracket are shifting to CNG to provide some relief to the consumers. Currently, Tata Motors is working on the CNG version of Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon. Lately, we got to know that the homegrown automaker is also developing a CNG-powered Altroz. The test mule of the same has been spotted doing test runs in Pune with an emission testing kit installed on it. The spy image has been leaked online.

As per the latest spy shot, we could see that the hatchback gets no styling updates in comparison to the IC engine-powered model. Furthermore, it was observed that due to the testing kit, the weight of the vehicle tilts a bit towards the rear. Feature-wise, there might be no changes on the CNG version of the Altroz. At present, Tata has equipped the Altroz with a plethora of features. These include a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, rear AC vents, cruise control, drive modes, among many others.

Currently, Tata Altroz is offered with three engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit can churn out 85 bhp power and 113 Nm peak torque. While the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine generates a top power of 109 bhp and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel mill, on the other hand, produces 89 bhp power and 200 Nm peak torque. We can expect the homegrown automaker to offer the CNG kit with the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit. Talking about the price, we can expect the Altroz CNG to cost Rs 40,000-Rs 50,000 more than the IC engine-powered model. The launch is likely to take place next year in the Indian market.
