Tata Motors is on a roll these days, right from the successful launch of the Tiago, Tigor and Nexon to the rave reviews for the Harrier, the Indian automaker is stopping at nothing and is all set to debut its premium hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show in the next couple of weeks. Codenamed as 45X and showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, Tata Motors just put out a teaser for the vehicle with the 6-letter name starting with A.
Tata's premium hatchback was long rumoured to be called Aquila and the teaser points to that direction. But a fresh teaser confirms the name won't be Aquila, instead, the premium hatchback from Tata Motors would be called Altroz. Based on the company's Impact Design 2.0 philosophy, the Tata Altroz is set to hit the roads towards the end of the year.
Unconfirmed reports point to the Tata Altroz being powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engines in both naturally aspirated and turbo forms, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. A 1.5-litre diesel is also likely to be offered. Tata's premium hatchback will take on the segment best-seller, the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20, both of these cars got a facelift in the past 1 year.
