The concept of Skoda Vision IN will be a mid-size SUV, making its public debut at Auto Expo 2020.

Skoda teased its all-new Indian market SUV late last month (in the form of the Vision IN concept) with some interior sketches. Now we can confirm that on February 3rd, the Czech carmaker will announce the Vision IN concept in its entirety, ahead of its public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo on February 7th (the design will also be on display on the media days on February 5-6).

What we know about the new mid-size SUV from Skoda so far is that it will be based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform and (the concept) measures in length of 4.26 m. We also know that the SUV's production-spec version will have a 2.651 mm wheelbase, providing ample room for occupants of the rear seat.

Within, a seamless and streamlined dashboard design will reflect the Vision IN model, with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system dominating the interface. A Virtual Cockpit (digital instrument cluster), a three-speed flat-bottom steering wheel with steering mounted controls, a small gear selector in the central console and a special ' crystalline feature ' located in the middle of the dashboard will also be part of the package.

A 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine is expected to power the Vision IN model. In Skoda's mid-size SUV, there will be no diesel engine option on sale, but there might be a CNG model on the cards.

According to a statement made by sales, service and marketing director Zac Hollis, Skoda Auto India, sometime between April and June 2021 the production-spec Skoda Vision IN SUV will be released in India. It will be competing with the likes of the forthcoming mid-size SUV of the next-gen Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Maruti Suzuki. Also worth noting is that Volkswagen will also have this SUV variant, most likely in the form of the India-spec T-Cross.
