Refreshed Superb will be available only in petrol variant in India upon launch in 2020. Skoda sedan gets styling updates inside and out.

Skoda’s preparation to launch the facelift Skoda Superb is in full swing as the model was spotted road testing in India recently. The model which was launched internationally lay few months ago has the design element that brings it closer to Skoda’s new model sold globally.

The facelift variant will get a new grille, chrome trimming that is present between the rear tail-lamps. For the first in the Skoda line-up, the headlamp has been updated to full-LED Matrix units – a first for any Skoda vehicle.

The new Superb gets advanced driver-assist features like predictive cruise control. But this feature is unlikely to be available in the Indian car market as there are certain restrictions over public use of certain radar frequencies.

The India spec variant will have a BSVI compliant 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will churn a good 188hp of power. However it is highly unlikely that the car will get a diesel variant due to the latest emission norms. In some global markets Skoda has given a plug-in hybrid version for the Superb.

Only in the year 2020 will tell whether the Indian market will get to see this hybrid variant. If the hybrid variant does get launched, it will rival the Toyota Camry hybrid in the Indian market. So far, the company has not revealed the prices of the updated Skoda Superb. But expect to hear soon in the coming months.
