Skoda India has released the interior sketch of the all-new Slavia sedan ahead of its launch in the country. Skoda Slavia global debut is scheduled to take place on November 18, 2021 in India while it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2022. It will replace the Rapid sedan in the Indian market while positioned in the premium mid-size sedan segment to compete against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. More...The Slavia's cabin will be based on the current Skoda interior concept with latest design elements which has been already seen in the European brand's other models. There will be circular AC vents, horizontal decorative trim strips in a contrasting colour, and embossed wordmarks on the binnacle. The centre console will house a free standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There will be a character line referencing the silhouette of the Skoda grille below the infotainment unit which will also serve as a hand-rest. Skoda has introduced a horizontal floating trim strip in a contrasting colour which extends all the way into the round air vents on the sides. Furthermore, it will boast of a digital instrument cluster and two-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
Underpinning the locally developed and manufactured MQB-A0-IN platform, Skoda Slavia is the second company model to be launched under the India 2.0 Project. The technical development of the sedan has been carried out by the Skoda Technology Centre in Pune. A couple of weeks back, the brand had released the official exterior sketches of the sedan to give an overview of its appearance. Mechanically, the Slavia will be available with two petrol engines in the form of 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI units. The transmission choices on offer with the sedan will be a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DSG automatic and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.
