The all-new Skoda Kushaq was launched in India last month at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The price goes as high as Rs 17.59 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the range-topping Style trim. The SUV is offered with a choice of two petrol engines - 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI. The Czech automaker has already commenced the bookings of the 1.0-litre TSI variant a few days back. To everyone’s amazement, the SUV bagged over 2000 bookings in India. As per a recent tweet from Zac Hollis -Skoda India Director, the deliveries and test drives of the Kushaq 1.5-litre TSI will commence from August 11 onwards.


 

In another tweet, Hollis further confirmed that Skoda will continue to launch additional models and trims throughout the lifecycle of the product. However, the launch timelines have not been disclosed yet. 2021 Skoda Kushaq is the first SUV to be built on the company’s new India-specific MQB AO IN platform. It is further offered in three variants namely Active, Ambition, and Style. The company might launch a range-topping Monte Carlo variant at a later stage. Feature-wise, the Kushaq SUV comes equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Carplay & Android Auto, a customizable 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless Smartlink, touch-sensitive buttons for climate control, wireless charger, and ventilated front seats.


   

Performance-wise, the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, TSI petrol unit churns out a top power of 113 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. The motor further comes linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 6-speed torque converter unit as an option. While the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, TSI motor generates 148 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. The engine can be had with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It also gets cylinder deactivation technology for better fuel efficiency.
