Bangalore-based EV startup Simple Energy is all set to launch its Simple One e-scooter on August 15, 2021. The launch event will be live-streamed on Simple Energy’s Youtube channel. As for the price, we can expect it to fall in the range of Rs 1.1 lakh - Rs 1.2 lakh. However, we are still not sure whether this is going to be the ex-showroom price or on-road price.
Talking about the bookings of the upcoming e-scooter, it will begin on August 15 itself. The company plans to launch the scooter in a phased manner with 13 cities across the country listed under phase 1. The company has set its sight on states Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab, for the launch. Currently, Simple Energy is working on building a factory that will be capable of producing one million units. Furthermore, it aims for 99 per cent localization at launch.
As per the teaser image, the e-scooter features an LED headlamp with DRLs and an LED tail lamp. Besides this, the scooter gets a large, fully digital instrument cluster that will come with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. It might also get an ‘intelligent side stand’ and a large under-seat storage space. Furthermore, it will also get disc brakes on both ends. The electric two-wheeler startup plans to offer the vehicle in a choice of three different colors.
Performance-wise, the new electric scooter might come with a mid-drive motor paired with a removable 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Moving on, the e-scooter is claimed to offer a 240km range in economy mode and a top speed of 100 kph. It can further accelerate from 0-50 kmph in merely 3.6 seconds. Once launched in the Indian market, the e-scooter will rival the likes of Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Okinawa Praise.
