Leaked patent drawings suggest that a seven-seat SUV from Jeep could be in the works.

International media houses have reported that, there are new leaked patent drawings of a SUV that looks like a production version of the Yuntu plug-in hybrid concept that was displayed at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.

The registered patent drawings show design similarities to the concept, especially the silhouette. The wheel arches and the grille also look largely similar to the one seen on the concept. The SUV appears to have low ground clearance, which means it won’t have the off-roading capabilities of Jeep’s other offerings. The seven-seater also looks to have low approach and departure angles.

Jeep has not confirmed the production of the Yuntu, however the leaked drawings could mean that it is in the works. Once revealed, the Yuntu will be sold in the Chinese market. However, high demand for seven-seat SUVs could see Jeep bring the car to India.

Jeep is currently working on bringing the Renegade to the Indian market in late 2018 or early 2019.
